ABBIE BARRETT & the last date

Press for DYING DAY

Dying Day is a stellar first release and the launch of a sure-to-be long and healthy career.”—Mare Wakefiled

“Barrett is refreshing, a bright light among others of her genre.”—Julia R. DeStefano

“Just when you think you’ve got [Dying Day] nailed down, off it goes again on another unexpected tangent. That’s what makes this debut album so compelling. She’s a bit folky, a bit ethereal, a bit strange (especially on “Train”)—but all good.”

“Dying Day marks the arrival of not only a musician, but also a poet, to keep an eye on.”
Oliver di Place

Barrett seems completely unafraid to tackle genres far out of what is expected of her, and this will undoubtedly reap benefits in the future.
Erik Ziedses des Plantes, WERS

Normally I don’t review three-song releases ... but this one is pretty compelling. The band trades in what is best described as singer-songwriter numbers (composed by the singer) delivered in a rocking fashion. “On the Range” sounds like Ennio Morricone crossed with A Camp, and the winsome “Draw Me In” sounds like an outtake fromPink Floyd’s Obscured by Clouds (albeit with female vocals). Here’s looking forward to Volume II.

Bill Kopp, Musocribe

Abbie Barrett & The Last Date give us a dreamy, Pink Floydesque ballad in the shape of “Draw Me In,” a track on their new EP.

The Mad Mackerel

The first volume of Abbie Barrett & The Last Date’s series of Triples shows off the range in talent of both the singer and her band.  Whether you want to jam out to “Here To Stay” or sway and bask in the romance of “Draw Me In,” Abbie Barrett & The Last Date provide it.

The Aquarian Weekly

“Just when you think you’ve got [Dying Day] nailed down, off it goes again on another unexpected tangent. That’s what makes this debut album so compelling. She’s a bit folky, a bit ethereal, a bit strange (especially on “Train”)—but all good.

UK’s Rock’n’Reel

Barrett is refreshing, a bright light among others of her genre.

Julia R. DeStefano, The Noise

Dying Day is a stellar first release and the launch of a sure-to-be long and healthy career.

Mare Wakefield, Performing Songwriter

This 3 track CD is actually as complete and as diverse as any other I have ever come across, and with each track sounding miles apart from the next it not only strengthens the bands ability to cross genre's and musical stylings while also avoiding the pigeon hole of a one trick pony.

Joseph Graham, AudioFloss

Press for Dying Day

Abbie Barrett is your classic good hang. She’s funny as shit and what’s more has a top notch rock & roll band to back up one of the strongest singing voices in town.

Brendan Boogie,
Boston Band Crush

The musicianship is talented to say the least, and with the band’s combination of sharp lyricism, earthy rhythms, and social awareness, Abbie Barrett & The Last Date are sure to gain more recognition in the future.
